The Coffee Lovers Guide to Cold Coffee

Posted by Meera Nair on

Although in some parts of the world it’s a winter wonderland, the days are getting sunnier in Australia. Either way now is as good a time as any to brew yourself a large batch of cold coffee that’ll keep you going all day long.

The best part is that you can savour a different coffee drink each time depending on your mood. These cold coffee drinks vary in terms of how they’ve been brewed or how they are served (chilled? with ice?).

Cold Brew

Going by how much all of you love the Cold Brew Bundle, it’s no wonder that this method of brewing coffee is a winner. Leave coffee grounds to steep in a jar of water overnight or for at least 8-10 hours. The resulting brew is known as cold brew. It is smooth, flavourful, and has less acidity.

Iced Coffee

Simple but you can’t go wrong with an iced coffee. Pouring hot brewed coffee into a tall glass full of ice is all there is to it. You can add a dash of milk but it is not necessary. The stronger the decoction, the more you’re going to get out of this drink as the ice dilutes it slowly.

Frappuccino

frappuccino

Considered one of the most popular holiday drinks with great potential for being made as fancy as possible, Frappuccinos are crafted by blending coffee, ice cubes, milk, and a sweetener together. It is topped with whipped cream and has a thick consistency owing to the crushed ice. Those who like decadent coffee drinks will certainly enjoy a Frappuccino.

Iced Americano

Skip the hassle and create the easiest cold coffee drink. Iced americano is nothing but shots of espresso poured over ice. Now here is how it is different from an iced coffee, you top it off with more water and milk is not used in an iced americano.

Iced Latte

An iced latte is similar to an iced coffee but has a lot more milk in it. First, mix the hot espresso shot with sugar so that it dissolves completely. Pour this sweetened espresso into a glass of ice. Finish making the drink by adding ample milk to it.

Cold Coffee

Cold coffee is a classic. It is creamy and velvety. Chilled coffee concentrate, cold milk, and sugar syrup are stirred (almost whisked) together. This creates foam on the surface making the drink smooth. You can tweak how much coffee you use for this recipe as per your preference but the sweetness of cold coffee is what defines it.

Nitro Cold Brew

This drink takes a regular cold brew to the next level by making it frothy and soft. The cold brew is infused with nitrogen using different ways. Depending on how invested you want to get in making nitro cold brew, you could get some equipment for pressurising the coffee with nitrogen.

Mazagran

Mazagran doesn’t get spoken of as much as it should. This drink originates from Algeria and is also found in countries like Austria, Portugal, and Spain. It contains a shot of espresso, lime juice, brown sugar, and ice all of which are mixed together. This brew is then served in a glass with mint leaves and lemon slices. In a way, it’s a coffee lemonade that is incredibly refreshing and sweet.

While a significant majority of coffee drinkers prefer their coffee to be hot, we know that there are many of you out there who can never get enough of a nice chilled and strong cup of coffee, especially while binge-watching TV shows or sitting down with a book.

So, enjoy these cold coffee drinks at home with our Beancraft blends and single origins!
